Less than you think. On the scoop, you want a small section from the underside of the twist, close to the scalp, and Teleties advises exactly that in its own guide: anchor close to the scalp and catch a small section of hair underneath. A prong loaded with a thick fistful cannot rotate, and a pin that cannot rotate cannot lock. If the half-turn feels jammed rather than progressively tighter, back the pin out and take a thinner bite.
